The Mixed Choir
The mixed choir sing, typically, two services per week during term time. These are Choral Evensong on Mondays at 6.15 p.m. and the sung Eucharist on Thursdays at 6.00 pm, although they often sing one or two Sundays each term (including when the choristers are on half-term) as well as occasional extras. They also rehearse on Thursday evenings after formal hall. The choir is made up primarily of students from Worcester College although there are also members from other colleges and from outside the student body. There is usually a significant overlap between the lower voices from the boys choir and the mixed, though there are a larger number for the mixed choir as well as sopranos.
They sing a very wide variety of music, from contemporary works by composers associated with the college to medieval English polyphony and most things in between. The choir do concerts in and outside of Oxford on a regular basis as well as foreign or home tours and taking occasional day trips to sing services in various cathedrals in England.
